Commercial
Commercial wiring is used in non-industrial spaces that often have public areas, such as hospitals, schools, office structures and retail spaces. While commercial facilities can vary widely in size, their demand is moderate compared to industrial. Commercial wiring usually has more insulation, known as CU THHN, which protects wires against corrosive liquids and gases.
Industrial
Industrial wiring is used in harsh manufacturing and processing environments like chemical plants, refineries, and lumber mills. Industrial wires are more resistant to heat, cold, abrasion, spills, and are generally more expensive than commercial wires. Industrial electrical systems must comply with strict safety regulations and use specialized equipment like explosion-proof enclosures and intrinsically safe wiring.
Residential
Residential wiring is found in single family homes, multi-family dwellings and condominiums. The load requirement is considerably less than either commercial or industrial wiring.
